Myles Boonstra is a professional mechanical engineer with 28 years of experience improving building performance, reducing environmental impact, and guiding sustainable infrastructure projects across Manitoba. As Director of Environmental Sustainability & Energy for Shared Health, he leads the province-wide strategy that strengthens energy efficiency, reduces emissions, and supports climate-resilient healthcare facilities. Myles oversees a large portfolio of energy and sustainability projects that have lowered operating costs and reduced greenhouse-gas emissions across major hospitals and regional sites. He also leads the development of Manitoba’s healthcare energy-performance reporting system, supporting transparent decision-making and long-term planning for cleaner, more efficient healthcare. Before joining Shared Health, Myles managed building performance at the University of Manitoba, improving operations for more than 100 facilities and helping shape the university’s long-term energy strategy. His earlier work at Manitoba Hydro supported industrial and institutional clients in implementing energy-saving projects across the province. He also spent nearly a decade consulting, designing mechanical and energy systems for hospitals, universities, airports, and northern communities. Known for his collaborative approach, Myles works closely with healthcare leaders, technical teams, governments, and industry partners to build capacity and support meaningful progress toward a more sustainable healthcare system.
