How can this course be offered at my organization?

If you would like to bring this course to your site, you can seek permission from the appropriate Learning/Professional Development department at your organization.

If you are unable to get permission, please note that the longer, accredited version of the course developed in partnership with the Royal College for Physicians and Surgeons can be accessed here, free of charge, to share with your colleagues.

Does my organization have to pay for the course?

No, this course is offered free of charge! Organizations are not permitted to charge for this course.

The content of the course falls under a Creative Commons attribution, non-commercial-share-alike license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) which means anyone can use these materials as long as you credit us, don’t use it for commercial purposes, and if you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must make the new versions available under the same license.

What are the technical specifications of the course?

Your organization will need to have a learning management system (LMS) to host the course and track learners. We ask that you share registration and completion rates with the CASCADES team after implementing the course.

  • What software was the course built in? The course was built in Rise 360 (Articulate) and can be made available in the following file types: SCORM 2004 (version 2, 3, and 4) and SCORM 1.2.
  • How is the technical pass criterion set up for reporting to the LMS? To pass the course, the participants need to fully view each module and complete the short knowledge checks. There are no other criteria (watching videos, token collection, quiz score, etc.). Answer key available here.
  • Is there a completion button? Yes, participants can click the “completion” button to ensure they have reached the end of the course.
  • Does the course generate a certificate? No, certificates or proof of completion must be set up by the organization.

Can my organization customize the course?

While the course itself is not customizable, your organization can format the internal landing page where the course is located to add additional information about sustainability initiatives that staff can participate in. You can view our recommended landing page here.

In summary, what do I need to do?

  • Speak with a member of your Learning Department to determine if and how you can submit this course for approval and which file format your LMS requires.
  • Agree to have your organization named as a participating site.
  • Submit the form accessed via the “Request File” link to request the course file. Please use your organizational email address.
  • Promote the course widely across your organization.
  • Share course registration and completion rates with the CASCADES team. You will receive periodic emails from CASCADES regarding usage statistics and course updates.
